As our population ages, we must make sure our elderly stay socially engaged, and live safely, healthily and actively.
Kampung Admiralty is Singapore’s first retirement community. HDB conceived it more than 4 years ago. But many government agencies and partners came together to plan this ‘vertical kampung’ for our elderly.
Located next to Admiralty MRT station, this one-stop hub includes two blocks of elderly-friendly housing, a medical centre, a hawker centre, shops, vertical gardens and community areas. There is also a childcare centre so that seniors can help look after grandchildren while the parents are at work.
The residents are already getting to know one another, and to do things together.
