Summer’s in the air with Joan Mitchell’s ‘Untitled’, a highlight of our Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale in Paris ☀️

Mitchell moved from Paris to the French village of Vétheuil on the Seine in 1968. ‘Yellow,’ she said, ‘Comes from here; I used very little yellow in New York and Paris. It is rapeseed, sunflowers...one sees a lot of yellow in the country.’

‘Untitled’, with its sunburst of yellow, was painted towards the end of Mitchell’s life and stands as lyrical evocation of the landscape of her final years.
