Rabbit portrait – I’ve no idea what’s caused this rabbit to looked so indignant, perhaps the annoying fly on its ear but such moments of luck can often go one of two ways. Either the resulting expression completely ruins the image and it is discarded for more ‘vanilla’ expressions or, such as the case with this, it actually adds another dimension to the image and also allows the viewer the opportunity to anthropomorphise. That is to apply human emotions to animals, something that in the past might have been discarded as fanciful we now know, courtesy of over 2500 pieces of peer-reviewed research that all mammals and birds share all of the same complex emotions that we do. That shouldn’t really, considered logically, come as a surprise to anyone, that is anyone who considers us to be what we are, one of a myriad 8.7 million species on Earth, as opposed being completely unique and perhaps even divinely deposited. Of course whilst this rabbit might look like he is sneering contemptuously in my direction he is instead simply eating some grass, the expression the result of nothing more than good fortune. Like many of us I know from bitter and personal experience that any image captured of one of us humans eating is rarely complimentary and so it was fortunate indeed that this image was even useable, let alone comical. Though I have shared other images from this session I have never shared this one before and so I shall leave it to your fertile imaginations to consider exactly what Mr Grumpy might be thinking?
