In the interest of full Instagram disclosure (keepin’ it real here, folks), last week I neglected to celebrate the very important holiday of National Doughnut Day. The next day, realizing my mistake, I posted a belated National Doughnut Day pic of Harlow, but the photo was actually taken earlier in the year. My kids saw the photo on Instagram and needless to say, they were NOT PLEASED. “Not only did you forget National Doughnut Day, you pretended to celebrate with us a day later!!!” Then, for the next week, they begged me every night to celebrate National Doughnut Day to make up for my transgression. Ten days later, they beat me at my own game and won REAL LIFE doughnuts. The lesson here is: You can’t fake a National Doughnut Day celebration on social media and get it past a 5yo and an 8yo.
