Marc’s ‘Drei Pferde’, a highlight of our Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale in London, belongs to the artist’s series of visionary paintings of animals immersed in – and seemingly becoming a part of – their environment.

Acquired at auction by the late Peter K. Grunebaum in 1951, and held in his collection ever since, 'Drei Pferde' is the most important work on paper by Marc to come to auction for many years.
