Photo by @ivankphoto | Elvis Navarrete wears a hat, which his father brought back from Nayarit, Mexico, as he looks for weeds in an onion field in Wilder, Idaho, in the summer of 2017. These children of migrant farmworkers work the same fields as their parents, but only as a summer job. Latinos came to Wilder as migrant farmworkers in the second half of the twentieth century. Now, Wilder is 76 percent Latino, and in 2015 it had an all-Latino city council. This photo was shot #onassignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック with @kchete77. It was published in the July 2018 issue in the feature: “How Latinos Are Shaping America’s Future.” Please visit ivankphoto.com and karlagachet.com to see more photos.
