“Before cellphones were fun, when the idea that anything may distract you from New York’s never-ending street theater was unimaginable, I would watch the world happen around me,” Darcie Wilder writes this week in @nytimesfashion. “Observation is, in many ways, a glorified lack of activity, focused attention without a clear purpose.” For a photographer like @arnold_daniel, of course, observation is a way of life. While shooting regularly for our weekly column #TheLookNYT, he walks up and down the streets of New York and photographs people who make the city come alive. Over time, our editor @lyonse began to notice a theme in his work: people who reflect one another. It was a theme that popped up in the work of another street photographer, @photodre. So she asked @arnold_daniel and @photodre to go out in search of #twinning New Yorkers. “I have always been fascinated by people on the streets who emulate one another's style,” she said. “I was interested in the fact that it also existed in Andre and Daniel's work.” Visit the link in our profile to see more photos photos by @arnold_daniel —whose work is featured here — and @photodre.
