Photo by @jonathan_irish // Swimming in a place called the grotto on Makatea Island...a remote island in French Polynesia. Getting to the grotto requires a tight squeeze through a low hanging ceiling that is definitely not designed for those with claustrophobia or dark places. But once inside, it is a magical fresh water swim amongst stalactites overhead and stalagmites underneath. It was one of the cooler experiences I’ve had in the beautiful South Pacific. Getting this shot wasn’t easy...it required a tripod, lots of lights, and willing friends to make it happen. Follow me @jonathan_irish for more images like this and around the world.
