Photos by @scottgoldsmithphoto | John McCain, an amazing American hero, is being laid to rest today.  Along with many across the world, my heart is heavy with sadness. If you judge John McCain by his staff and those surrounding him, you quickly realize a sense of honesty, integrity, truthfulness and candor that is the core of McCain himself. He is one of the most honorable and wonderful people I have ever met.  His wonderful wife Cindy and his children are equally as kind, warm and caring. You can throw politics aside when talking about this amazing politician. He crossed the isle more than others for the good of his country and life long devotion to serve the land he loved. My favorite part of McCain was his sense of humor. While he took his job seriously, he did not take himself seriously. To be in McCain’s presence is to laugh or smile  often. About 30 seconds before he was about to begin a National TV interview at the GOP convention, a network news anchor asked him who I was.  Without hesitation, he winked at me and told the anchor, “He is a homeless person and he won’t stop following me around”. He winked my way again.  To be teased or taunted by McCain is affirmation that he enjoys your company. John and Cindy allowed me to enter their lives in a way that may never happen again. They allowed me into their hotel rooms, planes, cars, buses and ranch. They allowed me to be my best “fly on the wall act” possible.  John never asked me to stop shooting. He is the epitome of what a politician should be.  Many think he is the last person in the senate to put party aside for the good of the country.  I miss this man so much right now. My heart aches for his family, incredible staff and every person that knows the truly amazing and wonderful person John McCain was. RIP. Captions: 1.
