Photo by @taylorglenn // The Cape Lookout Lighthouse on the Southern Outer Banks of North Carolina. One of the few lighthouses that operates during the daytime, its light flashes every 15 seconds and is visible from about 12 miles out to sea. The distinct markings also offer navigation aid, the center of the black diamonds point north-south and the white diamonds east-west. Accessible by ferry, it is located on Core Banks, part of Cape Lookout National Seashore. This area of North Carolina is home to incredible wildlife and beautiful wild landscapes. In just a few days it will be tested once again by Mother Nature as Hurricane Florence bears down. Wishing all the residents best of luck and safe passage through the storm.
