Planet or Plastic? ? It’s no secret that we are addicted to plastic and that addiction is negatively impacting nature, the environment and the oceans ? Surprisingly recycling isn’t the solution, it’s the last resort ♻️ First things first we need to REDUCE our consumption of waste (and not just plastic, this includes paper, glass, etc) and then secondly we need to REUSE whatever we do purchase as much as possible. It takes an awful lot of resources to produce disposable packaging of all kinds and even more to then recycle this material ? I know it can seem overwhelming as plastic is everywhere nowadays. A good place to start is with single use plastics such as water bottles, coffee cups, bags and food packaging. These items are used for seconds but last for hundreds of years. Any small steps or #sustainableswaps to reduce their consumption add up to a big difference ?? Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been filming something exciting with @bbcearth related to these subjects ? It has been eye opening, mind blowing and more than a little horrifying; but also hella motivating to be a part of positive change.
