Have you ever seen someone move with such power and grace? Sometimes, I get discouraged that I can’t move like @liangstunts, but when training feels hard, I remember how hard he worked to get to where he is today.
He practiced wu shu 14.5 hours/day, 6 days/week, from age 8 to 16, and then performed in the circus for 8 years. Knowing that the show was coming to an end, he spent the last 7 months seeking a new job that would allow him to stay in England (which was especially difficult, because he could not speak any English)
Every night after performing, he walked to a different Chinese restaurant, asking for a dish washing job. Having sought work at every Chinese restaurant in the city, he made the rounds again. Finally he was offered a job teaching wu shu at a martial arts studio, where he worked his butt off, to learn English, earn a living, and become one of the most brilliant performers and fight choreographers I know. It didn’t come easily to him, and I can’t expect it to come easily to me. His story always reminds me of how hard a person can work, and what can be achieved with extreme determination.
