Scottish Alpinist @climbermacleod is no stranger to the rain and a guy that makes the most of any and all conditions, a straight legend in the industry. This portrait was a lot of fun to make, I shot it around midnight in Squamish Canada shortly after Dave had delivered a keynote at the Mountain Festival. To create the rain I used my friends garden hose, pretty basic but did the trick. I had only met Dave a few hours prior and asking him if I could hose him down wasn’t exactly a standard “nice to meet you”. Dave’s a wet weather soldier however and he didn’t even bat an eye when he replied “Sounds fun, mate.” This is an old photo, taken in 2009 during a period when I had a monthly column in @rockandicemag that I ran for about 5 years. I loved it, the budget for props was simply creativity and each month I was tasked to profile a pro climber or a climber with a great back story and shoot their portrait. I loved the challenge, it pushed me creatively and I deeply enjoyed the interactions with so many great people around the world throughout my travels.
