Photo by @Cristina Mittermeier | Fish is as valuable as gold. Around the world, small coastal communities depend on healthy local fisheries for their survival. In the West African village of Winneba, women toil with fish from morning to night, every day: buying, smoking and selling fish in the local markets is the only way for them to make money. I was proud to work with the local non-profit @ChallengingHeights to provide education and more opportunities for these women. Headed by a former child slave, this small organization also rescues children who in desperation, have been sold by their parents into slavery to make a few dollars.
