“Indigenous peoples day is everyday...”
Today I celebrate my Yaqui brother @tomaskarmelo who through his visual arts (videography and photography) has gifted me and so many more belonging.
It was Tomas who made me understand the beauty, strength and magic that runs through our veins.
The love, pride and grace with which he carries his native roots is what made me want to heal and connect to mine.

Thank you T for being light in just dark times and for healing so many of us through pure reflection.

Everyday I am grateful for my family and friends who embrace their indigeneity and who support me on my own healing journey. As an artist and indigenous person, I’ve had the great honor to create visual medicine with people from various tribal nations. •

Over the years one truth has always been clear — we are people of abundance, not deficit. Across the world, we are blessed by communities who are the original care takers of Mother Earth. We all have ties to these indigenous teachings and ways of life, but because of rampant hate, we have suffered various degrees of disconnection. Thank you to all the individuals, artists, allies, advocacy groups, allies and especially organizations like @nativewellness who have tirelessly and lovingly shared an abundance of teachings that have helped uplift indigenous communities across the world. •

I’m thankful for my partner, @sweetsib and all the other creative Natives and allies who continue to inspire me on a daily basis. Special shout out to @gunner.jules for his gift with music and words. •
