My Mother is my Biggest Fan. I came to Florida this morning to see Mom, who was hospitalized last week with what we thought was a heart issue. Turns out her ticker is not the issue - the problem is her hiatal hernia. Apparently the stomach has broke loose and it's pushing back up into Mom’s esophagus. Worse, the hernia is pushing against the bottom of the heart as well - and the top half of her heart is overworking to compensate. So at nearly 73, Mom will go under the knife in 2 weeks, followed by a long Christmas recovery.
