Everyday, but especially today, I am thankful for my family- my strong, brave and beautiful mother who continues to shape the person I am, my fearless, compassionate and courageous sister who is a role model for both me, and my niece & nephew, my creative & talented brother who continues to inspire me with his kindness, resilience & integrity, and my niece & nephew who’ve become my absolute sources of joy.
Growing up in Nepal, I was raised by a single mother, which was not common. It took courage for her to raise my family as she did, and I’m am forever grateful to her for the example she set and the opportunity she provided my siblings and I with.
I am grateful to my brother-in-law for his belief in me since I was in my teens, and my father who gave us the gift of reading, music, films and for the humour - intentional and accidental- for levity has definitely been my source of optimism.
This is my family, who instilled in me vision and the confidence to move to New York to pursue my American Dream.
On Thanksgiving today, please take a moment to consider those who shape you, inspire you and how you can manifest your destiny through family, whether that be by blood or by choice.
To my family- my mother, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, father, brother-in-law and especially now, Paul - I am thankful to have you in my life. XPG
