#10featuredteachers meet @travelgrrrl LAUSD. The schools in this city need help, and they are lucky to have smart, conscientious teachers like her. Let’s help her out. Link in my bio./ I teach English to kids who have just arrived and kids who were born here, from Syria and Sri Lanka and Cedars Sinai. Obviously it's a Title 1 school (predominantly low income) and the students I'm most ordering for are classes of 7th and 8th graders who don't love reading and need a little push with some good (the Acevedo book won the National Book Award last night), culturally relevant and exciting literature to light a fire in them while it's still possible.
