It can be uncomfortable to be in the phase of life and work when it feels like your tree isn’t bearing any fruit, but instead is pruning itself back. But then I remember that pruning is what allows for new, fuller growth. It’s so much more comfortable and fun to be in the phase where you’re gathering the flowers and fruit of hard work, but I’m working on reminding myself to stay present in these other stages, too. I feel like I’m soon going to be standing around an empty tree feeling awfully naked (and vulnerable), but I know it will bloom again and won’t always feel this bare.
