All my life a signed picture of MLK sat on the mantle piece of my home. First in Grinnell, Iowa and then in Harare, Zimbabwe. He signed it for my mother when she met him while in college in the Midwest during the 60’s. She‘s shared that when she told him where she was from he knew exactly where Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) was, this being during British colonial rule. He said to her, “We are with you in your struggle.” Today his legacy of the pursuit of peace, justice and prosperity for all resonates just as urgently as it did back then.
