The subjects of Pierre Bonnard’s paintings were very varied. He drew inspiration from the places he visited, homes he occupied, and journeys he took. He bought his first car in 1911, and made trips to explore the countryside around Paris. He regularly spent extended periods in southern France, and his paintings were infused with the powerful light that he experienced there. As he moved, he took his paintings with him, continuing to work on them in different locations. Whether addressing the domestic interior, still-life or landscape, Bonnard needed to summon the experience up in memory, making him acutely aware of the passage of time.

Inspired by the C C Land Exhibition: #PierreBonnard at Tate Modern, Head chef Jon Atashroo has designed a menu that draws ideas from Bonnard’s time spent in Paris, using Parisian bistro dishes as his inspiration. Atashroo used ingredients found in the artist's paintings such as apples, pears, beetroot and fish, while playing on Bonnard's bold use of colour. The painting Coffee forms the inspiration of the dessert, which uses Tate's own coffee, roasted on site at Tate Britain. ☕

Atashroo's menu is available to enjoy every day of the week, alongside the C C Land Exhibition Pierre Bonnard: The Colour of Memory at Tate Modern. ?? More info in the link in today's bio.
