#tfw you make friends for life on the other side of the planet.

funny story: In 2013 I went to the @travadventure in LA and visited with a few folks at the @myjordanjourney booth. That night I tweeted them to thank them for the conversation.

Almost immediately I received a DM from someone in Amman asking me if I’d like to come visit Jordan as their guest. Now at that point, I’m ashamed to admit I had never even heard of the country. But I took a leap, got on a plane at the invite of total strangers and went to the Middle East for the first time.

That’s when I met these fabulous humans. You know that moment when you meet someone and you feel like you’ve known them your whole life?

It’s so wild to me that us three women grew up almost 8,000 miles apart, in totally different landscapes, regions, cultures, and yet if feels like we’re sisters.

Since that first tour throughout their country, they’ve come to visit me, and I’ve gone back to see them year after year and even forced them to go to Beirut with me. LOL.

I love them so much and my life (and my WhatsApp) is so much richer for the relationships that I’ve made while I travel.

It makes such a difference to be open to people who are perceived to be different than us. Because quite often, you discover that they are not really different at all.
