Hi guys happy Sunday! Every Sunday I donate my social media to a different student from our @yearsofliving and @putapriceonit campaign to talk carbon pricing. Legislation to #PutAPriceOnIt has been introduced in several states already, and there is a LOT of support for getting these policies over the finish line so now is a great time to get involved. This week's post comes from Connor. "My brother, cousins, and I grew up just a 30-minute drive from the Massachusetts north shore. I spent my summers on the beaches of Gloucester building sand castles, tossing seaweed at my brother, and chasing waves as they ducked in and out under a tired, drifting sun. Springs were spent tucked away in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, combing under rocks for salamanders with my cousins and hiking trails that seemed especially epic to my young eyes. This natural beauty belongs to us all, so I struggle to face the idea that my future children will be unable to enjoy these ethereal beaches and biodiverse mountains. A small number of corporations and wealthy individuals are responsible for the vast majority of greenhouse gas emissions that are causing these beaches to erode and countless forest species to disappear. These same corporations and rich folk should pay their fair share to restore our planet's climate, rather than leaving it tarnished for their own profits. An equitable carbon price could hold them accountable and assure that my home and others can be enjoyed by all of us for decades to come! This is why we need to #PutAPriceOnIt.” -Connor Farnham, Our Climate Fellow at UMass Boston
