Duke University star Zion Williamson went limping home with a knee injury when his Nike shoe suddenly ripped apart in the first minute of a game Wednesday night.
According to Nike's contract with Duke, Williamson is required to wear Nike sneakers, raising questions about whether or not he can sue Nike. The injury is embarrassing for the company, but investors are keeping perspective – Nike’s shares dropped only slightly at the open. But, shares of Under Armour were up more than 2% Thursday morning.
The incident could be an opportunity for the company to challenge Nike's dominant position in basketball. You can read more, at the link in bio. *
