Photo by @JimRichardsonNG | Corgarff Castle sits like a lonely outpost in the vast Cairngorms of Scotland, nestled below the heather-covered hills. Like many Scottish Castles it's laden with history, much of it violent and revenge driven; burned in 1571 with Lady Forbes inside. Government troops were garrisoned here as they hunted the Jacobites hiding amidst the glens. (Outlander fans, this is your kind of territory.) Ironic that it has now passed into the hands of the Lonach Highland and Friendly Society, whose members are quite possibly descendants of those very Jacobites. A distillery at one time.
