Photo by @lynseyaddario | My first assignment with Nat Geo took me to Bhutan eleven years ago to cover the country’s experiment with modernization in the land of "Gross National Happiness" for a story called “Bhutan’s Enlightened Experiment." Pictured above, in a room he shares with six other monks at a monastery in Wangdi Phodrang, Chenco (at left) is honest about his calling. It’s hard work memorizing all the texts, but afterward you have a comfortable life, so it's worth it, he says: “In the village, work is never-ending.”
