Will tech companies like Netflix and Amazon kill cable television?
Maybe not. It could actually be cable companies that do it themselves.
Cable companies’ method of bundling TV with internet is not an effective way to hold onto customers, according to Cable One CEO Julie Laulis. In fact, it’s not the TV bundles that Cable One customers want — it’s the company’s broadband internet they seek.
Cable One found that offering bundled video didn’t really do anything for their business. So, when customers call to cancel their cable TV service, Cable One doesn’t try to talk them out of it — instead they point the customers to services like Youtube TV.
So what does that mean for the future of cable TV?
