Did you know you could help save manatees by using safe boating practices? Manatees face several threats, but the greatest comes from collisions with propellers and boat hulls. Reducing your speed on the water makes it easier for you to spot manatees just beneath the surface and gives them the time they need to get out of the boat’s path. These gentle mammals spend the winter in Florida’s coastal waters but have been known to migrate as far north as the Carolinas and as far west as Louisiana during the summer months.
