Photo @stephen_matera | (swipe to see the full image) Composite Island in front of 5,083' Mount Merriam on a sunny day, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Alaska. At the end of the Little Ice Age in the mid 1700s, Glacier Bay was completely covered by a large tidewater glacier. By the time John Muir explored Glacier Bay in the 1879, the glacier had receded 40 miles. Follow me @stephen_matera for more images like this from Alaska and around the world. #SEAlaska #wilderness
