ヘイゼル・フィンドレーさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ヘイゼル・フィンドレーInstagram)「I never do ‘day’ posts (don’t like the conformity) but I’ve been meaning do do this for a while. My MUM! Everyone always asks me about my Dad because he introduced me to climbing and was a brilliant climber of his time. It’s true that I owe my Dad a lot. But it was my Mum who raised me and my Brother single handed since I was six whilst also holding down a full time job as a head teacher (principal) of a school for kids with learning/behavioural difficulties. She took me to the climbing gym 4 times a week when all she wanted to do was chill after a hard days work. A dyslexic from a working class family, she was expected to get a job in a factory (which she did for a while) not get an education, so she surprised everyone by getting a degree. She was a deputy and later a head at a time when many women were teachers but very few were in leadership roles. Here she is exhilarated but terrified in the French Alps; she’s scared of heights even with a railing to stop her falling. We are made from very different cloth me and my Ma but there is some pattern or texture that runs the same.
