This is for all of the people who ask me why we can’t “ just cut off all of their tusks?” or “ why can’t we paint them pink as a way to stop poachers?” Elephants use their tusks as tools for a variety of jobs that benefit their herd and also other animals. It is people who need to change. Not elephants.

Dry months are notoriously difficult for wildlife, and elephants get a little creative when their usual water sources have all but disappeared. They employ their tusks to dig for water- and in doing so, create mini pools that all sorts of wild species benefit from . This is just one more reason that only elephants should wear ivory!
