Photo by @acacia.johnson | Gentoo penguins nest around a building at González Videla Base, a Chilean research base in Paradise Bay, Antarctica. The station, active from 1951-58, is today only occasionally visited by tourists and Chilean parties, leaving the area free to be overtaken by nature. Today, it's one of my favorite places in Antarctica to cruise by small boat, taking in the striking contrasts of the buildings, mountains and dense wildlife.
