These are spaces and places that becomes the in-between. Where the strange beauty of housing along the US/Mexican border collides with the actual strangeness of a border. In this area near Brownsville, Texas, is a constant bomb of colours, randomly placed alongside rust brown metal fingers, jutting to the sky - there are more open holes along this rust than a spaghetti strainer. Even if closed, those seeking asylum from conflict, war, death threats, climate change and political oppression, would never be able to hold back the human right of seeking asylum. Reminds me of my family who came from Europe, also in the act of asylum. In hope. How unfortunate my ancestors didn’t paint their homes so festive, this feeling of expression, as if celebrating life from within towards the limitlessness in expressing all our external possibilities, no matter how strangely beautiful.
