At the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute we have hatched 23 loggerhead shrikes this year! This clutch is a little over one week old, and they are candidates for release to the wild. Loggerhead Shrike populations in the U.S. have been shrinking, but scientists from Virginia Working Landscapes work with local landowners to restore native grassland habitats that may help the birds. #WeSaveSpecies
