​With their mesmerizing eyes and pale, wrinkly skin, these Lake Titicaca frogs @museodorbigny ​have an unmistakable look, not unlike many other creatures of the deep. As one might expect, this species spends most of its time at the bottom of the lake, becoming most active at night when it is completely submerged in darkness. Their skin folds are highly specialized, acting like a gill that ensures each frog gets enough oxygen, reducing the need for the frogs to surface regularly.
