Back when I trained for track and field athletics my coach would make us stretch after EVERY session. Of course back then I saw it as a hindrance, the one thing keeping me from my post-training feed. But when I began training at the gym, I’m not gonna lie, I kept my stretching to a minimum because I always seemed to be in a rush… for that post-workout meal. Anyway long story short, here I am years (and hundreds of leg days) later, with hella tight hip flexors. So I’ve started incorporating this stretching routine post-workout and I even do these stretches to get my body moving during busy work days stuck behind my desk.

This is a super simple and basic routine to help open up your hips and increase hip flexor mobility… which will ultimatelyl help you squat lower YES I DID MAKE THIS ABOUT BOOTY GAINS I CAN’T HELP MYSELF (and again with the yelling!) 😂

You can perform this routine by holding each stretch for 45 – 60 seconds or alternatively, if your hips are quite tight, you can do rounds. Hold each exercise for 20 seconds and repeat this hold 3 times, as this will place less strain on your hips.
