A lot. ➡️ On June 19, 1865, Union forces in Texas issued orders proclaiming the end of slavery in the state. The celebrations that followed among black Texans created the foundation for a modern holiday celebrating emancipation—Juneteenth. Hiram Wilson, a skilled potter, was one of the formerly enslaved Texans who celebrated slavery's end. Newly freed, Wilson and other artisans in his family seized control of their family's livelihood. Together, they formed H. Wilson & Company pottery in Capote, Texas. This stoneware jar was one of their products. Can you spot their family name impressed on the jar?
