I have a question for @fina1908 judges or experts: How many points this body boost deserves? You can swipe right for the FINA guiding scale for height if you need help ;) @anitaaalvarez

Great question! Although I’m a low level judge, I love a good discussion on execution/difficulty and I love trying to understand the rules! Now you all have me genuinely curious!
When I read the FINA description of difficulty for strokes (boost fall in that category, correct?), it says “amount of weight held or carried above the surface add significantly to the difficulty” and “Double-arm movements above the water increase the difficulty” and “Strokes that require an extreme range of flexibility, such as those with the extended arm behind the shoulder line, are also difficult”. To me, in this picture, she has the “weight held” tightly behind her arched back, she has “double-arm movement above the waterline” AND “extended arm behind the shoulder line”. Genuine question here- do the rules ever define that those difficulty statements only apply IF the arms are “over her head”? And are there more descriptions available to FINA judges that I can read up on? Either way... it’s a beautiful position, with the height chart, looks like a 10!

Definitely put the arms over the head for more difficulty which will improve the execution score. Think about the alignment of the joints as defined in execution. Also the extension in the hands and fingers needs to define the full body use of energy which will finish the movements. So 9.4 but I’m just John...

Before swiping right I gave her a 9.4, but it could possibly be more. we can only judge what we see and the angle and splash hide a bit. If her arms were raised I’d increase the difficulty score though.

U cannot use this scale for measuring this example, because it says with both arms (meaning both arms should be above her head). Which she doesn't have. It would definitely be a nine at least.

Difficulty is not what the question was. Execution was the question. I am a very low level judge in my county but would think in this day and age that that boost execution score is a ten.

The problem is the scale. rather than a numerical one, they would use a "geographical-historical” one.
I'm just a national judge, not from fina.
