To get there, you need to walk seven hours from the end of a bumpy road, but soon the road will reach the village. Electricity arrived a few years back, along with 3G coverage, and now social media is making its way into the fabric of life, much like in the rest of the Himalayas (and the world!), and is affecting culture. The brand Supreme is a big hit for the young generation, brought in by a popular Korean soap opera series. It’s this strange and fascinating globalization effect like anywhere else. Here wearing a typical Layap bamboo hat and a traditional Tibetan chuba coat, Gile Sitar, 57, came out (in sandals!) to talk to her son Dawa, 23.
