The view from a high mountain point east of Mt Gargano looking down at the coastline. Would Crixus have wanted stay this close to the coastline?

From what I have read in my Ancient Roman History courses, they were on the east side of Mount Gargano. The Romans were at the peak, choosing the high ground. Crixus and his contingent were the first to attack, climbing the steep hillside. The Romans took heavy casualties. Crixus's people (because there were not only warriors, but women, children, and many others fleeing to follow him) hit several times, but were bounced back due to the steep incline. And even though the Romans took a heavy death hit, after about 4 or so attacks Crixus's people began to flee. I can only guess that Crixus and his men died fighting though, as history does not account for him fleeing from much. And I would have to speculate that he and his men died upon the east slope of the hillside.

@manubennett Did you ever find what you felt to be the spot? I hope so.
On another note, with all of these incredibly inspirational posts you have been sharing lately, I was wondering if I could do a piece of you performing a haka? I would be honored to portray you in such a way and I could only hope to capture the same feeling that you are sending out to others along the way. Either way, blessed journey, brother. And safe travels. And if I am able to do this piece for you, please contact me. My info is in my bio. Much love. Kia ora.

@manubennett maybe it's tactical a good place and he was good at that, i real don't believe he would wanted to flee but to sensible retreat would have been a good idea only i don't think that's what he wanted because he never wanted to be a slave again so it was or death or freedom for him and with that passion he fought ????❤️❤️❤️

If you haven't yet, read Barry Strauss's book, 'The Spartacus War'- he retraces the path of path of Spartacus and the slave army, and is able to do a theoretical reconstruction of why they made the decisions they made, based on the geography of the region.

How I enjoy watching Spartacus. And from his incredible cast. For me, this series is a classic. PS: I'm watching the trilogy of the hobbit extended and hallucinated with azog, his cries are the same as crixus hahaha ⚔️??

I think the coast being so near would have given him a mental advantage as it was a way to refuge for the young and infirm among his followers leaving him free to dedicate himself more fully to the battle. ??
