Photo by @amivitale | A curious llama inspects wild bear-grass in Swan Lake, Montana. Indigenous to the Andes, Llamas in this outfitter were brought to Montana in 1979 to help move timber cruising equipment. Seeing what great trail companions and sure-footed mountaineers they were, the group began to offer commercially guided pack trips in 1981 to Glacier National Park and the surrounding areas. With their padded foot, cleanliness, calm nature and ability to browse on a variety of vegetation, llamas have no more impact in the high country than a deer. Follow me, @amivitale, for more photos of fascinating creatures and stunning locales. #montana #llamas #trekking
