Senior Editor @davidlandsel1 has finally found the best beignets in New Orleans: fried to order, very hot, cooked through precisely, not a hint of frying oil clinging to them, and with a nice bit of chew that speaks to fermentation, and to somebody giving a damn about the dough. The thing is, they're located about an hour away from The Big Easy. Tap the link in our bio to read his story, because it's too hot outside to stand in a super-long line. 📷: @davidlandsel1

These are Spanish buñuelos, not French Beignets. Remember that the Spanish were there first and these were common food since this time. Just like there's not really a French Quarter in New Orleans. All you see is Spanish. When the city burned, the French rebuilt in the original style - - Spanish. The balconies and balustrades... Spanish. The café au lait? Spanish café con leche. ???

You do realize that Baton Rouge is not just a distant suburb of New Orleans. It the CAPITAL CITY of the state! There is nothing “New Orleans” about coffee call. It’s one of the most important places in the Baton Rouge community.

dude is trolling people. their beignets are good, but not better than a handful of places in new orleans. nor is it worth the 60 minute trip up to BR from NOLA, not counting the horrendous traffic. bad take ??

Why wouldn’t you say “found the best beignets in Louisiana” - you didn’t find anything in New Orleans, your found them in Baton Rouge - another major city an hour away.

These Beignets are in New Orleans the same way Food and Wine headquarters are in NYC. Baton Rouge is not NOLA and Birmingham AL is not Manhattan.

@roxerickson that's the exact place they're describing here -- which is why I'm not sure why they're claiming they're the "best in NOLA" ?
