While the sexes are quite similar in appearance, juveniles are much duller, with grey underparts and a brown iris.This species is common throughout a number of African countries including Senegal, Zaire (now DRC), Sudan, and Kenya.There are many species of starlings found in countries across the globe, each faced with different threats. In Europe, starling populations are experiencing steep declines, thought to be linked to a lack of feeding opportunities due to changing land use practices. To support these birds, consider installing a bird feeder and keeping it well stocked with feed throughout the year.
