❤️🐣 When keepers at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute saw that Guam kingfisher parents weren’t caring for their egg, they stepped in to help. Keepers placed it in an incubator, mimicking the conditions in a nest. When the chick emerged from his shell in April 2019, it was a huge success for this species! Only approximately 140 Guam kingfishers exist in the world, so every chick is precious. #NZKW2019 #WeSaveSpecies
