I am never trying to get famous with my career decisions. I am always chasing myself. I have to connect to a project on a personal level to give it my life - and that is what acting requires; I must give my whole life to it in order to do it well - my whole heart, soul, identity, energy and time. For me, it is overwhelming and requires an incredible amount of recuperation time. Every time I do act, I think I will never do it again. And then something always comes along that I feel compelled to do. .
Looking back I can see that compulsion to do it again is always me chasing another part of myself: the young woman who overcame the odds and got “strong”, the burnt-out dramatic actress who just needs some levity,
the 13-yo who dreamt of being a woodland elf, the woman who has faced so many of her demons and won, the spiritualist who is awakening to the importance of weakness and vulnerability, the little girl inside the mature woman whispering “There is no winning or losing, there is only the playing. Play.” .
Each project represents a need in me to touch a part of my own soul and make it manifest; to observe it, accept it and finally integrate it into my being without angst. ..

scottkishere Passion is what drives you as it does me! At 36 I am working hard at chasing my dream of being a filmmaker alongside my day job with the Police. As a young boy living in the UK I felt that I shouldn’t chase my dream and others perceived me as having my head in the clouds. Like minded people in rural UK were hard to find and Hollywood seemed like a billion miles away. So this lead to me following a career path with the Police. This ticked all the boxes, made my parents proud and was it was perceived as a career. It was not reallywhere my heart was though and it wasn’t until I hit my 30’s that i decided to chase my true passion. I now spend hours planning shooting and editing my short films in my spare time alongside my job. I do this with next to no budget with a cast of family and friends. Sure, that evil self doubt and fear creep in all the time and I often feel like giving up, but I wont! Id rather die trying than to have never tried at all! The internet is a weird place where you get an insight into the lives of people who you don’t know. I enjoy reading you posts as they appear to be very genuine and honest. A rare thing on the web and inspirational for us folk out there chasing our passions. I would of thought it is highly unlikely that you will read this lol so essentially I have just told my life story to a bunch of strangers. freshprismbreak Just started watching lost a couple weeks ago and I love your performance. Even if it was 15 years ago you had such a talent to build a connection between the character/you and the viewers. And I think that you achieve this by doing these things that you wrote about in this post, which is sth that we aren't seeing this often these days. driver9696 I’m 37 years old and have dreamt of acting all my life. You are a inspiration to say such true words and interact with your followers. I recently worked in a movie with Tom Skerritt and truly realized I need to pursue my love for acting that allows emotional movement in people.

rachaelborders That is really admirable and inspirational to read. ? Definitely something I need to keep in mind where I’m currently looking/needing for a new job right now. To make sure it’s something that’s going to be, hopefully, worth it, or at least making sure I really want to do it.
