Photo by David Guttenfelder @dguttenfelder | In 2016, I went on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック on the first American cruise ship to dock in Cuba for nearly 40 years. Here, classic cars drive past old buildings on the Malecón, Havana’s seawall. From there, the closest tip of the United States (la Yuma, as it’s called in Cuban slang) is some 90 miles away. To see more from Cuba, follow me @dguttenfelder and read the full story in the November 2016 edition of @ナショナルジオグラフィック.

I loved my visit to Cuba! The people are warm and friendly. There is zero tolerance for crime and theft. You are always safe. The worst part....The USA embargo means No Toilet Paper! Bring enough to share!

Please be aware that people are suffering here under this regime. The Cuban people are missing from the picture. The fact that these cars still exist is a testament to their need, not their desire to be cool.
