thephotosocietyさんのインスタグラム写真 - (thephotosocietyInstagram)「Photograph by @andyparkinsonphoto/@thephotosociety Kamchatka bear cub running – There are definitely worse things in life than lying on a remote lake shore in the Russian wilderness watching as a couple of spring cubs, likely just three months old, come running through the water toward you. This was one of countless unforgettable encounters that myself and our group enjoyed during my recent photographic tour to the wilds of Kamchatka in Eastern Russia. The mum and her cubs had been hunting for salmon when they decided to come and start fishing in the river behind where we lay. Relaxed in our presence, so incredibly respectful was my group, that as the mum sauntered casually past us her two cubs came sprinting through the water, straight down the barrel of our lenses. In the end I actually stopped photographing, just to ensure that the cubs didn’t end up coming too close. As it was moments after this cub emerged from the water he scooted right of frame and went to join both his sibling and their mother. I love the quizzical look in this image but most of all it is of course his ridiculously oversized paw, almost as big as his head, that really adds something a little different to the image. Lying flat on the sand I was able to include a distant backdrop, made blue by the early light and the mist shrouded hills.
