This retouching involved application of specially formulated restoration colors only within areas of paint loss; for this reason, this process is also called ‘inpainting.” The aim of the restoration was to minimize the visually disrupting effects of old damages. The inpainting materials used are stable and will remain easily removable in the future without affecting the original paint layer.
