Photo by @DaisyGilardini | Patagonia is known for its strong winds and beautiful lenticular clouds. Lenticular clouds typically form over mountain peaks where there’s moisture. Lenticulars are also called standing wave clouds, because they’re associated with waves in the atmosphere. They develop when strong winds push air over a mountain. What is interesting is that the clouds stand still and remain stationary. Though wind may move through them, it doesn’t push them. Instead, the clouds change shape by continually forming and dissipating around the crest of the wave of moisture.
