Hundreds of thousands of protesters in Hong Kong have braved torrential rain to come out for an 11th consecutive weekend of mass demonstrations. Police only gave permission for people to gather in Victoria Park, but protesters ended up blocking several of the city’s main thoroughfares. Hong Kong’s summer of unrest began in June over a now-shelved extradition bill, but demonstrations soon expanded to include calls for greater democracy and government accountability, and condemnation of alleged police brutality. Protest organizers estimate that 1.7 million people turned out for today's demonstration; police have told CNN they do not yet have their own estimate for crowd size and CNN cannot independently confirm the organizers’ figures.

Meanwhile，Shenzhen provides electricity to HK with rather low fee. Sure，HK people are not satisfied with the current situation there due to unreasonably high price of housing，but they should blame the richest ones in HK. They literally bought most part of the land in HK. Now，you ask why Beijing didn't say a word？Dong Jianhua meant to carry out the housing plan which is similar to Singapore，and of course Beijng supported that，but the richest ones in HK didnt approve of it because that might lower the price of the houses which they built up and were ready to sell. If Beijing set a foot on that then it might influence the “one country two systems” policy. So HK people should stand out and solve the problems. It was obvious that the housing plan was good for the poor，but no body stood out and spoke for Dong Jianhua…so the price of houses rose rose and rose. AND NOW，those protesters claim that they just protest against a law，actually they are just not satisfied with their life. Its ridiculous that Beijing gave you freedom but you didn't stand out and speak for Dong. Its ridiculous that you protest against the election system which was originally made by YOURSELVES. Now you cry like a baby and blame Beijing？Why not directly ask Beijing to give you a house for free？🙄Shame on you！Besides housing，the economy in HK is eager for a change. In recent years，most of the top senior high school students from blue and white collar families just wanted to be in medical industry when graduate from universities. Dont you feel strange？Thats MOST of them ！Because they know its hard for them to enter the business where money flows，like senior positions in a bank.（If you think money is snobbish please talk to Wall Street） Do you think the protesters can solve that problem by dancing under the umbrellas？Or maybe they are not even aware of that！Shame on you！

politics_and_things I'm kinda tired of people saying america needs to do the same. They have had to shut down airports, public transport, streets, and businesses because people arent going to work and its to crouded. Also the poluce force is being assaulted heavily. So no we,dont need to do the same id rather not have pur economy shut down because millikns if people dont agree on something protest on weekends or atleast after you are done working so shit doesnt go further down hill
